At a wedding shower, I have seen people give gift baskets where each item in the basket is a part of a cute story the recipient reads out to the group. Has anyone seen something similar, but more appropriate for a baby shower?

I saw it here and it was The Baby Story http://partygameideas.com/baby-shower/printable_shower_games_1.php

When I have seen them done, didn’t guests give the gifts (it could be a big basket) Luvs, Snuggle, Pampers, etc…

My friend is due next month and I been gathering stuff over the weeks to make a gift basket for her daughter that is on her way. Can you give me some opinions, other things I might want to buy for it, and some decorating tips. So far here are some of the things I got:

- 5 bodysuit pack
- Baby wipes
- A pack of two pacifiers
- A box of two bottles
- A soft baby blanket
- A duck w/ hood bath towel

Here are some pictures

Sorry for the quality, I used my camera on my phone and the flash wasn’t working.

I just received a really cool gift basket from a friend. She decorated it with pink ribbon and little pink plastic pacifiers she got from a crafts store, they usually sell them as table "confetti" It was super cute. You should be able to get it in blue or neutral if you don’t know what your friend is having.
Other good gift basket items….

powder, no tears baby shampoo, an infant rattle (wrist rattle maybe), baby lotion, baby nail clippers, baby oil, baby q tips, teether, book for baby, burp cloths, bibs, little mittens, socks…

you might want to check her registry too, I put a lot of little things on mine so people wouldn’t feel like they had to get big stuff…

I What things that will be used do moms actually use baby oil ?
What the best products ?

I have never used baby oil. It seems like it would be really greasy and messy! I do use a whole lot of baby lotion though. I use Johnson’s brand and I put it on my daughter after her bath every night and every morning before I get her dressed. So that is definitely one thing you could put in a gift basket. Other ideas are:
1. diapers- Pampers Swaddlers are the best. They are very soft.
2. baby wipes- Pampers sensitive are great.
3. baby wash- again I like Johnson’s brand
4. Diaper rash ointment- Desitin creamy is good
5. Vaseline- good for dry lips and dry nasal passages in newborns. Also good to use when baby poops as a protective skin barrier to prevent diaper rash. Oh and also good for lubricating baby rectal thermometers.
6. pacifiers- my daughter loves the Avent brand. Pacifiers also reduce the risk of SIDS.
7. baby brush and comb set
8. hooded towel and matching washcloth
9. baby first aid kit- you can buy them already made or you can make your own and include infant Tylenol, thermometer, baby nail clippers, nasal bulb suction, medicine dropper or syringe, baby sunscreen, Hyland’s teething tablets, baby Orajel for teething, Neosporin antibiotic ointment, Mylicon gas drops.
10. teething toy
11. bibs and burpcloths
12. onesies
13. socks
14. something nice for mom such as a book about babies, good smelling lotion, warm socks, healthy snacks

Have fun making your gift!

I saw it on a tv show and it was cool. The wheels where baby shampoo wrapped in receiving blankets. I don’t know what else though. I can’t find it online and that’s where I saw it. Any help would be great. Thanks!

No, but i have seen how to make a watermellon into a baby buggy… cute shower idea…

I’ve looked on the internet, and cannot find anything made from baby items…

Hello my best friend is pregnant and she’s having a girl so I want to surprise her by making a basket full of different things for her soon newborn. Can anyone pitch any ideas of what I can do or put in there?

A basket is a good idea, I always like putting together an assortment of things too.

Baby wash cloths
Baby wash,lotion,powders,etc
Pacifier
Nipples for bottles
A bottle brush (never can have to many, they tear up easily)
Receiving blankets
Booties
A cute outfit
A picture frame
Baby Qtips
Nail clippers
Infant tylenol/motrin
Diapers/wipes
Little hair bows (in case she has hair..lol, they sale clip on bows at most stores)
Some type of book (for mommy to read to baby)
Socks
Rattles/teething rings
A blanket

Really the possibilities are endless, you could really put any type of baby care item in the basket and they would come in handy, never can have to many.

The doc told them mid Nov and they are having a girl. I have thought abt sending a baby gift basket online (any other suggestions or links welcome abt gift ideas)
Is this a good time to send them the gift or should we wait till a couple of days before or after the baby’s arrival. I think once the baby is born everyone will be so engrossed, busy and excited, they might not pay attention to our gift, before would make them look.
Thanks,please advice

I think it’s a great idea to send it now. Getting things in the mail is always fun, and it’s especially fun to just stare at all the baby stuff before your little one arrives. You’re also right about it being busy when the baby comes. I’m sure they won’t overlook the gift, I’m just saying it’s really fun to get stuff before the big haul comes.
