I already know that I’m getting my boyfriend a digital camera for his birthday this summer, but I also want to get something really creative and surprising. Nothing sexual! I was thinking one of those Edible Arrangements fruit baskets but the problem is they are very expensive and most of them have chocolate and he doesn’t eat chocolate. I’m not really interested in a scrap book or picture frame, not that kind of creative. Any ideas out there? Thanks!
My friend made a coupon book for her boyfriend. She also made him calendars with pictures of them. It was cute, and he loved it!
Yup I did it again. Sorry it looked so bad last time; hopefully this will come out better

Flowers, a plant, or maybe a fruit basket to the house after a funeral?
I heard flowers were too "happy" for a funeral. Someone told me a plant – but that sounds dumb to me. Suggestions . . . . ?
From experience… believe it or not… "instant food" … allow me to explain.
There is SO much going on with a family in bereavement, that food preparation is the LAST thing on their minds. AND their schedules will be so VERY screwed up, that regular meals is simply not practical.
If you can prepare your own gift basket, and give it to the family, that would be so great! Go to the local thrift shop… they usually have TONS of baskets of all shapes/sizes, and they will practically THROW them at you they have so MANY!
Then… go to the supermarket and fill it with things like:
– cookies
– ready-to-eat microwave ramen noodles, soups, etc.
– snack crackers
– cheese sticks
– fresh fruit… bananas, apples, pears
– individual drink mixes
ALL kinds of things like that. Believe me, the more "grab and go" the better!!!
It’s one of the OLDEST cliches that people bring FOOD to a family in bereavement, but trust me, it may be old, but it’s TRIED AND TRUE! To be able to grab a couple cookies here and there is a great help! If you are not the "casserole" type of person, then such a gift basket is MOST appropriate and will be MUCH appreciated!
Have a polite day.
Fruit, cookies, fudge or chocolate? I’m finding interest in them. Anyone else?
I’m not asking how to do them. I used to be a floral designer, so I know how. I’m asking if you know of any interest.
www.google.com and look some up. (Yahoo doesn’t do ‘ad’s’ in YA)
One of our employees, who is diabetic, had a heart attack and is being released today. My supervisor wants to send a fruit basket. I don’t know if that is ok for a diabetic. What gift can we send if the fruit basket is not feasible?
Good thinking. Most fruits are very high in sugar. I would suggest maybe a basket with nuts, sugar free candies, and maybe a little fruit. Also, a package from hickory farms with meat and cheese would be good.
Then there is the old stand by of a plant or flowers.

She’s been diagnosed with Leukemia and has been in the hospital since right before Christmas. She’s going to be there for a while more. I’d like to send her stuff but am not sure what to send. I do know she can’t have any fruit or veggies and live flowers and plants are a no no. Any ideas would be really great. Thank you in advance. ![]()
Oh, and she is out of state too.
I would send her some type of kit of something you think she’d enjoy doing, like scrap booking or knitting. I’d be careful about lotions, etc, with fragrance. She will most likely have an upset tummy at times and some odors can be too much. Cards, stationary, envelopes and stamps so she can write people. Puzzle books if she enjoys those. You don’t say her age but perhaps one of those little books that has funny trivia.
I’m sorry about your aunt and pray she is well very soon.x.
I always thought fruit baskets were bad but I think you could do worse. My ideas cheap candy that you can buy at any store or clothing that does not appear to be new.
I guess I always thought of recycled gifts as the worst, especially when they don’t even open the box, and I guess the worst case scenario here would be getting your gift back, as a gift.
Tough! It never happened to me, but I do know some people who recycle gifts often.
To me, the worst imaginable gift is also a gift that didn’t cost you anything. You know, there’s no thought for the person you give it to. I would feel the worst if I ever gave a gift that didn’t cost me anything.
