Can anyone help with ideas for a mothers day gift that I can make at home that will incorporate their children/grandchildren in it as well? Thanks, All ideas welcome
Ok, i have alot of ideas:
*Family photo house
*Clay finger print cards
*Recipe card holder
Directions:
1) Family photo house
What you need:
-Pop Tart box, or one of similar shape and size
-Construction paper
-Scissors
-Tacky glue
-Pennies, pebbles or modeling clay
-Tape
-Photographs of all family members
-Fine-tip Sharpie or other black marker
What you do:
1. The top of the box (with flaps intact) will be the top of the house. Decide what color you would like your house to be and cover the outside with construction paper. Leave three extra inches of construction paper at the top all the way around.
2.Cut slits in the construction paper at the top corners, so that the paper can fold like the flaps can. Glue the construction paper to the flaps.
3.Trim the pictures into rectangular windows, or you may decide to cut carefully around the person’s picture (sort of like a paper doll) and glue that to a rectangular piece of white paper to make a window.
4.Decorate the house, placing the windows and a door. You might want to include your family name, a message and the year.
5.Fold corners of the big flaps of the top of the box inward to make an upside down "v". Fold the corners inward, but leave them sitting like tabs, so that you can glue the roof to them. Fold the small flaps down inside the box.
6.Decide what color you would like your roof to be and cut the construction paper to cover it. Glue it on and then add any details you would like to your house, i.e., window boxes, shutters, flowers, ivy or anything else you like!
Craft 2) Finger print cards:
What you need:
*playdo
*sparkles
*arcrylic paint
*paint brushes
What to do:
1. Divide the playdo to each kid and have them all designe their finger prints in it some way, and then allow them to use deccos such as glitter to decorate and personalize.
Craft 3) Recipe card holder:
What you need:
-35 Popsicle sticks
-School glue or tacky glue
-Wax paper or plastic grocery bags
-White satin ribbon
-Rubber stamp (small simple design such as star or heart)
-Stamp pad
-Silk flower
-3×5" Index cards, lined
What to do:
1. Protect your surface by using wax paper or plastic grocery bags. You can use newspaper, but I find that the project tends to stick to it and the newspaper print transfers to the Popsicle sticks.
2.Glue 11 Popsicle sticks long sides together in a row.
3.Glue 6 Popsicle sticks long sides together in a row.
4.Glue 2 Popsicle sticks long sides together in a row
5.Stack and glue 8 Popsicle sticks on top of each other.
6.Create another stack of 8 Popsicle sticks.
7.Take one stack of 8 Popsicle sticks and glue to the (11 stick) longest row, along the longest side
8.Repeat with other stack of 8 Popsicle sticks.
9. Glue the row of 2 Popsicle sticks at one end of the recipe holder to create the bottom.
10. Glue the row of 6 Popsicle sticks on top of the stacks of 8 Popsicle sticks, and adhering to the bottom edge of the recipe holder
11. Turn recipe holder over. Glue 2 Popsicle sticks together to create a V shape and attach to the top of the recipe holder to create a hanger
12. Let dry completely
13. Rubber stamp design on ribbon and at the top of the recipe cards. Add a silk flower if desired.
14. Give this useful present to your mother, aunt, grandmother, or anyone who likes to cook!
